Lupita has been featured on Glamour UK’s May edition and she gets candid about her life and what she likes and dislikes.

The 41-year-old actress rose to fame after winning an Oscar for her role in ’12 Years a Slave’ in 2013 but admitted that before that she did not have a glamorous lifestyle.

She told Glamour: “I hate shopping. I love red carpets. You get to be Cinderella for a night. My life before the launch of my career did not involve a lot of ball gowns. Now I wear so many and I love it.”

The ‘Queen of Katwe’ star also revealed that in terms of striving for “perfection,” she has learned to just embrace herself for who she is and has “forgiven” herself for not always being so.

She said: “These days I allow myself to be a human being. I’ve just found a way of forgiving myself for not being perfect.” Lupita also opened up about her breakup with her ex in the interview.

She announced in October 2023 through her Instagram that she had broken up with her ex Masekela. She said, “Honestly, the thought of having to update people one at a time was going to be harrowing. I had made the choice to share the relationship with the world, and I wanted to choose to share the end of it with the world,” she told the outlet. “I knew that announcing it or sharing it with the world would mean there would be a reverb and I would have to deal with the onset of that.”

Nyong’o and Masekela, a TV host and sports commentator, had been dating since at least December 2022, when they publicly confirmed their relationship on Instagram. The pair were known to share moments from their relationship together on social media before their split.
