Njambi Koikai Succumbs to Endometriosis.

Media personality and Reggae MC Mary Njambi Koikai also known as Fyah Mummah has died at the age of 38 after a long battle with endometriosis.

News of her death has shocked many as it comes shortly after she appealed for blood donations following her recent hospitalization.

She put up a post on her Instagram stating, “Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the Pioneer Ward Nairobi Hospital, and I require blood O positive. Kindly ask for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” the post read.

Njambi had been a vocal advocate for endometriosis awareness.

Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. The cause of endometriosis is unknown. There is no known way to prevent endometriosis. There is no cure, but its symptoms can be treated with medicines or, in some cases, surgery.

Njambi’s struggles with endometriosis were well-documented over the years. She had previously received treatment in the United States for complications from the disease. Her full diagnosis was Stage IV Endometriosis, catamenial pneumothorax with diaphragmatic endometriosis, sigmoid and rectovaginal endometriosis, and abnormal appendix.
