Koffee releases new album “Gifted”

By Adelaide,

22-year-old Jamaican reggae artist Koffee has finally released her first album dubbed “Gifted’. The album surprisingly has no features. The album features her hit song “pull up”. The singer said that she believed that the album’s timing was just perfect, as she also shared that she had been working on the album during the pandemic lockdown in Jamaica. Now that Covid-19 measures worldwide are being relaxed, she’s looking forward to traveling and sharing her new music.

Koffee’s real name Mikayla Simpson was first discovered at 17 after Usain Bolt posted her tribute to him. At 18 she went ahead and won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album. As she turned 19, she made a five-song dancehall EP making her the youngest person and only woman to earn such a distinction. She tells real stories about her life, including critiques of the Jamaican government’s complicity in structural poverty and gun violence in her new album. The album has already made a debut on the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart. The 10-track set, is currently at No. 6 worldwide.
