Marsabit County Commissioner Stanley Kamande has said the county remains stable in terms of livestock feed and water availability.

According to Kamande, the county disaster management committee continues to closely monitor the situation, particularly in Laisamis Sub-County, which is often affected by drought during the dry season.

Speaking on the county’s preparedness, the commissioner said authorities are keeping a close watch on conditions to ensure timely intervention should the situation deteriorate.

At the same time, Kamande cautioned pastoralists against moving their livestock into forest areas too early, noting that some forest zones serve as reserve grazing areas when conditions become more severe.

He added that the government has sufficient livestock feed reserves stored in its warehouses and is prepared to respond should conditions worsen over the next month.

On the issue of youth being used for political activities that threaten public order, Kamande urged young people to maintain peace for the sake of the county’s unity and stability.

He warned that security agencies are on high alert and will take action against any youths who are used politically to disrupt peace in the county.
