Manyatta Lengima residents raise water and health concerns

Residents of Manyatta Lengima in Laisamis Constituency, Marsabit County, have raised concerns over water shortages and inadequate access to healthcare services.

Speaking to Radio Jangwani the residents, led by elder Anthony Lbalanga, said water sources they depend on, including Silanga and hand-dug wells, have dried up, leaving families struggling to access water.

The residents said some of the remaining water sources are unsafe for domestic use, while the shortage has also disrupted daily activities and learning at St. Dominic Savior Manyatta Lengima School.

Meanwhile, Community Health Promoter Lukas Chaule said residents are forced to travel long distances to seek medical treatment due to the lack of adequate health services in the area.

The residents are now calling on the Marsabit County Government, through the departments of Water and Health, the Korr Ward representative and development partners, to intervene by providing a reliable water source and establishing a health facility in the area.
