Bishop Qampicha calls for sustained peace in Marsabit
By Caroline Waforo
The ACK Diocese of Marsabit Bishop, the Right Reverend Qampicha Daniel Wario, has called on residents of Marsabit County to safeguard the gains made in peacebuilding and reconciliation, warning against a return to the days of conflict and bloodshed.
In a message following his recognition among Kenyans honoured during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, 2026, Bishop Qampicha urged residents across religious, ethnic, socioeconomic and political divides to embrace forgiveness, unity and peaceful coexistence.
Bishop Qampicha dedicated the state commendation to religious leaders, elders, women, young people and other community members who have played a role in promoting peace, saying the recognition reflected the collective efforts of those working towards a cohesive and prosperous society.
He noted that religious leaders have continued to champion peace and reconciliation, sometimes putting their own lives at risk to end violence, bridge divisions and heal communities affected by conflict.
The bishop further called on young people to reject ethnic hostility and divisive politics, saying sustained peace was essential to securing their future and enabling communities to achieve their aspirations.
He urged residents to strengthen the culture of peaceful coexistence and pass it on to future generations, emphasizing that the county could not afford to reverse the progress made in building lasting peace.
Bishop Qampicha concluded by praying for lasting peace, unity, tranquillity and prosperity in Marsabit County and Kenya at large.
