North Horr braces for hot, dry and windy week

Residents of North Horr Sub-County, including North Horr, Dukana, Maikona, Forole and surrounding areas, are expected to endure a hot, sunny and predominantly dry week, with no significant rainfall forecast between September 8 and 14.

According to the Marsabit County Meteorological Services, the region is likely to remain dry throughout the forecast period, with little indication of meaningful rainfall across the sub-county.

The main weather concern, however, will be strong winds, with speeds expected to range between 18 and 32 knots.

The Meteorological Services warns that afternoon wind gusts could occasionally exceed 35 knots, particularly over exposed and open areas.

The combination of strong winds and dry conditions could also trigger localized dust storms, especially over bare, dry and exposed surfaces. Residents, motorists and communities engaged in outdoor activities are likely to experience periods of blowing dust and reduced visibility.

The forecast paints a picture of continued harsh dry-season conditions across North Horr, with high temperatures, strong winds and the absence of significant rainfall expected to characterize the week.
