2024 Kalasha awards nominees announced.

The 2024 Kalasha Awards nominations are out.

This year’s ceremony has a total of 1500 entries drawn from 37 categories, a huge increase compared to previous years.

The upcoming 13th edition of the awards ceremony will be a week-long festival that will see local international delegates assemble, and will be held at the KICC.

A jury comprising of professionals from the film and television backgrounds was responsible for the evaluation and selection of the nominees. The jury selected include, Naftally Muriuki Association of Animation Artists of Kenya (A3K), Elias Nabutete Kenya Scriptwriters Guild (KSG), Annabel Cheshiniwe Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), Charity Torut- Kenya Film Commission (KFC), Ledama Sempele Kenya Film and Television Professionals Association (KFTPA).

“We were deeply impressed by the sheer volume and creativity present in this year’s submissions. The remarkable increase in entries, particularly in animation, is a powerful testament to the immense potential and growth of Kenyan filmmaking. Selecting the nominees proved challenging yet rewarding, and we firmly believe we’ve chosen works that truly embody the best of Kenyan and international film and television,” Says Lucy Mwangi, Producers Guild Kalasha Awards Chairperson.
