The Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for Laisamis, Kepha Maribe, has issued a stern warning to youths involved in livestock theft, saying the government will not tolerate criminals who raid communities and steal livestock from residents.

Speaking in Laisamis town, Maribe said the government is determined to end livestock theft, a crime that has caused significant losses to pastoralists and, in some cases, led to deaths resulting from conflicts that arise during livestock raids.

He emphasized that security agencies are on high alert and will continue pursuing those involved in criminal activities that threaten peace and livelihoods in the region.

At the same time, Maribe said the national government is committed to bringing government services closer to the people by increasing the number of chiefs, particularly in areas that currently lack chiefs and in newly established locations.

According to the DCC, the move is aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening the government’s presence at the grassroots level to better serve local communities.
