County Secretary suspected to have died of corona virus

Marsabit County Secretary Engineer Joseph Wako Guyo who died on Tuesday shortly after arriving at Marsabit level 5 hospital.

The Marsabit County Secretary Engineer Joseph Guyo Wako may have succumbed to coronavirus this morning.

According to the statement of the County Governor Mohamud Ali on his Facebook page on Tuesday evening, the County Secretary “exhibited exhibited classic symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus.”
The governor went ahead to say that “The Medical Doctors at the Marsabit Referral Hospital and the Hospital Management have therefore advised that the handling of process, procedures and all rites related to the final sendoff take into consideration the recommended Public Health protocols for COVID-19 patient.”
The engineer is said to have passed on just after arriving at the Marsabit General hospital on Tuesday morning.
The Marsabit governor has euologized him as a a seasoned and a highly respected public servant who served Kenya and Marsabit with utmost professionalism, dedication and commitment to quality Public Service delivery.
The late County Secretary served in the Water Sector for over 30 years in various capacities rising to District Water Engineer and a Managing Director for Isiolo Water & Sewerage Company.
He also served as CEC Member for Water, Environment and Natural Resources in the County Government of Marsabit before taking over as the County Secretary & Head of Public Service.
Eng. Joseph was born to late Mzee Guyo Gurguro and Mama Taditi Guyo. He was a dear husband to Annamaria Lokho and a loving dad to his 2 sons; Guyo and Doyo and daughter Diramu Wako.
Governor Ali has urged everyone to exercise extra caution and abide by the recommended Public Health guidelines for the mitigation and containment of COVID-19
