The Milimani Anti-Corruption Court has convicted former accountant at the Ministry of Education Christine Chacha, for fraudulently receiving KSh54,000 and falsely accounting for KSh3.3M, in 2009.
The Court convicted Chacha for receiving KSh 54,000 purportedly used to pay accommodation for resource persons to facilitate a workshop held at the Nyeri Technical Institute.
Evidence produced in court showed that she claimed the 3.3M was used on sensitization workshops scheduled for secondary schools on Double Shift Programme.
Chacha’s co-accused: Concelia Ondiek (former Acting Director of Secondary and Tertiary Education), Thomas Omuga, Fred Ochanda and Francis Imbo were acquitted in the case.
Last year, Concelia and Chacha were convicted for stealing KSh1.5 million in public funds, forgery and false accounting. Concelia was jailed for 2.5 years with no option of fine while Christine was ordered to pay KSh1 M fine or in default serve one year in jail.
