Kenyan movie’ Subira’ now streaming on Netflix

Critically acclaimed Kenyan movie ‘Subira’ is now showing on Netflix.

The movie which was released in November 2018, was added on Netflix after 4 years.

‘Subira’ tells the story of a young Muslim woman who navigates a death in her family, an arranged marriage and a move to the big city Nairobi and fights continuously for her right to swim.

Lead actress Brenda Wairimu took to social media to celebrate the movie’s milestones on the international viewing platform.

The film directed by Ravneet Sippy Chadha was Kenya’s 2020 Oscar contender, but it was not nominated. ‘Subira’ also scooped up five awards at the 2018 Kalasha Awards.
