The government has put in place a 6pm to 6am curfew in the entire county of Marsabit beginning today 2nd May 2022 for the next 30 days.
Speaking at the GSU headquaters in Nairobi interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i said the security services have begun a sustained disarmament exercise in a multi-agency operation to flush out criminals and sighted Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) elements operating in Sololo.
The CS also promised that state departments embedded in the multi-agency team will ensure distribution of food and water resources to affected residents.
Unsanctioned movement along the borders of Isiolo and Marsabit counties will be considered hostile and responded to accordingly. The government says the conflicts in the two counties is being funded by illegal mining activities taking place around areas of Kom sub-county.
This has necessitated a declaration of Merti Sub-county in Isiolo County as a disturbed area for 30 days. Movement and activities MUST be cleared by security services.
