The Secretary of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) in Marsabit County, Omar Kutara, has strongly condemned the use of goons to disrupt political gatherings, saying such actions should not be tolerated and those responsible should face legal action.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Radio Jangwani, Kutara said the use of hired gangs in political activities is unlawful and poses a threat to public safety, warning that it can lead to destruction and loss of lives.

He urged young people to remain vigilant and reject attempts by politicians to use them to instigate violence and disorder during political events.

Kutara also condemned attacks against journalists, noting that such actions violate the rights and freedoms of the media as protected under the Constitution.

He further called on political leaders to stop exploiting young people for personal interests and instead focus on creating opportunities that can empower them economically and enable them to contribute to community and national development.

At the same time, Kutara urged security agencies to take a leading role in safeguarding the rights of citizens by conducting thorough assessments before authorising political meetings that could pose security risks in affected areas.

He emphasized the need for strict adherence to the law to ensure political activities are conducted peacefully and without intimidation or violence.
