Eight year old boy dies after snake bite in Marsabit

An eight-year-old boy has died after being bitten by a puff adder in Boruharo village, Dirib Gombo Location, Marsabit Central Sub-County.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Assistant Warden for the North Eastern region, Bakari Chongwa, the incident occurred on Monday while children were playing within their homestead.

KWS officers, accompanied by security personnel, responded to the scene and captured the snake alive before relocating it to a wildlife reserve.

Chongwa also confirmed that another puff adder was found in the Qachacha area within Dirib Gombo Location and was similarly captured and taken to the reserve.

The deceased was buried in accordance with the customs and traditions of his community.
