8,840 Marsabit residents receive identity cards

A total of 8,840 residents in Marsabit County have received national identity cards and related registration services in July and August.

According to Marsabit County Registration Officer Mugira Munene, 7,846 residents were registered for new identity cards during the two-month period.

Another 994 residents received replacement IDs after losing their original documents, while others exchanged their old-generation identity cards for the new ones.

Munene has urged residents whose IDs are ready for collection to visit registration centres and collect the documents.

He said 3,419 identity cards are still lying uncollected at registration offices across the county, warning that delays in collecting the documents could contribute to congestion and a growing backlog.

The officer encouraged residents to take advantage of the registration services and ensure their identification documents are collected once ready.
