One person injured as unknown number of livestock stolen in saturday raid in sarima

One person was injured, while an unknown number of livestock were stolen following a raid on Saturday evening in Sarima village, Loiyangalani Sub-County, Marsabit County.

Confirming the incident, Loiyangalani OCPD Nicholas Mutua said armed bandits believed to be from a neighbouring county carried out the raid at around 5p.m., shooting and injuring the victim in the arm before fleeing with the livestock.

Mutua said the victim was rushed to a health facility in Loiyangalani, where he received medical treatment.

He added that on Sunday, police officers, in collaboration with National Police Reservists, NPRs managed to recover 470 livestock.

According to the herders, 750 livestock, comprising goats and sheep, were stolen during the raid.

Meanwhile, OCPD Mutua has urged residents to maintain peace and refrain from engaging in retaliatory attacks following the incident.
