Inadequate budget allocation hampering Judiciary services in Marsabit

Insufficient budget allocation to the Judiciary remains a major challenge in the delivery of services to residents seeking justice in Marsabit County, according to Judiciary spokesperson John Ndemo.

Speaking to Radio Jangwani during the Amkia Jangwani programme, Ndemo said the funding shortfall has contributed to the closure of some mobile courts, a situation that could affect access to judicial services for many residents.

He noted that in the previous budget allocation, the Judiciary received KSh30 billion against the KSh50 billion it had estimated was required to effectively carry out its mandate.

The remarks come as the Judiciary prepares to hold stakeholder consultation forums in Marsabit on Thursday to discuss the proposed 2027/2028 financial year budget and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework.

Similar consultation meetings are also scheduled to take place in Lamu, Kajiado and Nairobi counties.
