Deputy Governor Marsabit questions high spending on Peace-Building initiatives in Marsabit

Marsabit Deputy Governor Solomon Gubo has questioned the large amounts of money being spent on peace-building activities in the county, saying the resources could instead be directed towards development projects.

Gubo made the remarks in Moyale on Monday as the world marked the International Day of Peace.

According to the deputy governor, peace-building efforts in Marsabit have become an endless undertaking despite millions of shillings continuing to be spent on security and peace programmes by the national and county governments, as well as development organisations.

He noted that substantial resources have been invested in initiatives aimed at promoting peace and security in the county, but the efforts continue to require significant financial support year after year.
