160 NGAO Officers in Marsabit to receive training on stress management

By Samuel Kosgei

A total of 160 officers from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) in Marsabit County are set to undergo training on stress management to help prevent workplace pressure from affecting their performance.

The training will target government administrators, including assistant chiefs, chiefs, assistant county commissioners (ACCs), deputy county commissioners (DCCs) and the Marsabit County Commissioner.

Marsabit County Commissioner Stanley Kamande said the training is necessary due to the challenges faced by NGAO officers as they carry out their duties.

Kamande noted that despite the county having a relatively small number of national government administrators, cases of stress remain a concern among officers and their families.

Meanwhile, Ruth Nyambura, the Director of Counselling in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, who led the training for chiefs from Marsabit Central and Sagante/Jaldesa sub-counties, said male officers in the National Government Administration are more affected by stress than their female counterparts.

Nyambura said 60 per cent of men in the department experience stress, compared to women.

The training is expected to equip the officers with skills to identify, manage and cope with stress while carrying out their demanding responsibilities.
