A Marsabit court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment or a fine of 600,000 shillings after finding him guilty of grievously injuring his cousin by slashing him on the head with a panga following a domestic dispute.
Galgallo Denge Gufu committed the offence on May 6, 2026, in Goro Rukesa, Sagante Jaldesa Sub-County.
Senior Principal Magistrate Edward Oboge handed down the sentence after considering a probation officer’s report, which indicated that the convict had been threatening his mother, leaving her living in fear. The report further revealed that the family was concerned he might act on the threats.
In a separate case, Galgallo Joshua Isaya was sentenced to seven years in prison or a fine of 100,000 shillings after being found guilty of theft.
The court heard that Galgallo broke into a shop in Jua Kali area, Mountain Location, between April 21 and 22, 2026, and stole various goods and cash valued at a total of 21,000 shillings.
The prosecution successfully proved the theft charges against him.
The two sentences were delivered on Tuesday, with Magistrate Oboge granting both convicts 14 days to appeal against the rulings.
