Marsabit man remanded for assaulting a child

A man is being held in custody in Marsabit Town over allegations of assaulting and injuring a five-year-old child in the Dakabaricha area of Marsabit Central Sub-County.

According to charge documents presented before the Marsabit law courts, the suspect, Daniel Emmanuel Obote, is accused of committing the offence on August 13, 2026.

The court heard that the suspect allegedly assaulted the child using a mobile phone charging cable. He was arrested on August 17, 2026, and has denied all the charges against him.

Appearing before Marsabit Resident Chief Magistrate Edward Oboge, the suspect was granted bail of KSh100,000 or a bond of KSh200,000.

However, investigating officers opposed his release, citing fears that he could attack the victim or interfere with witnesses.

The case is scheduled for mention on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
