Detectives probe death of KDF officer at Karare camp in Marsabit

Detectives in Marsabit County have launched investigations into the death of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer who was found dead in his quarters at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Karare, Marsabit County.

According to Marsabit County Criminal Investigations Officer Kennedy Nyagah, the deceased was found with a wound on the throat, while a knife believed to have been used to cause the injury was recovered at the scene.

Mr Nyagah said the officer’s colleagues had tried to reach him by phone without success, before going to look for him at his residence, where they found him already dead.

Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, including whether the officer was killed or took his own life.

The body has been moved to the Marsabit County Referral Hospital mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
