Marsabit youth call for greater inclusion in peace talks ahead of 2027 elections

Youth in Marsabit County have called for greater involvement in peace and dialogue initiatives aimed at promoting political tolerance ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking on Tuesday after a workshop on strengthening unity, peace and cooperation in the county, organised by the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK), Youth Interfaith Network chairman Abdiaziz Boru said young people should be given a greater role in peacebuilding efforts.

Boru said youth are among those most frequently used in activities that disrupt peace, particularly during political meetings and events.

He called for their increased involvement in discussions and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and political tolerance as the country approaches the 2027 polls.

Meanwhile, Marsabit Women Advocacy and Development Organization MWADO founder Nuria Gollo said it was important to identify and close loopholes that could be exploited to disrupt peace ahead of the 2027 General Election.
