Marsabit County Referral and Teaching Hospital has received medical supplies worth KSh 16.2 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), in a move expected to strengthen healthcare delivery across the county.
Speaking after receiving the consignment, Marsabit County Executive Committee Member for Health, Malicha Boru, said it was the largest consignment of medical supplies the hospital had ever received.
He noted that the supplies would help address shortages of essential medicines and improve healthcare services at the hospital and across Marsabit County.
Boru revealed that the consignment includes anti-venom drugs, which will support the treatment of snakebite victims, noting that snakebite cases have previously resulted in deaths in parts of the county.
He added that the county government was continuing efforts to ensure that all hospitals and health centres across the county are adequately stocked with essential medicines to improve service delivery.
Meanwhile, Marsabit County Referral and Teaching Hospital Chief Executive Officer Kusu Abduba has warned individuals involved in the illegal sale of medicines meant for patients at the facility, saying legal action will be taken against those found culpable.
Abduba also urged residents to seek medical services at the hospital, noting that improved availability of medicines had strengthened its capacity to provide healthcare services.
