Goro Rukesa youth demand faster repairs on Manyatta Jillo–Gororukesa road
By Nayabande Orwa
Youth from Goro Rukesa in Sagante Jaldesa Ward, Saku Constituency, have called on the government to speed up rehabilitation of the Manyatta Jillo–Gororukesa road, saying its condition continues to inconvenience travellers, motorcycle operators and residents.
The road is being upgraded under the ASAL Rural Roads programme, implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) in partnership with the European Union and the French Development Agency.
According to the youth, the poor state of the road has hampered movement and contributed to accidents, with more than six people reported injured. They said some stretches are covered in sand, making it difficult for vehicles and motorcycles to pass, particularly during the rainy season.
The youth are now urging the relevant authorities to fast-track the works and complete the road before the onset of heavy rains, warning that delays could worsen the hardship facing residents and increase the risk of further accidents.
