Caritas Marsabit delivers medicines, nutrition supplies to hard-to-reach health facilities

Health services in hard-to-reach areas of Marsabit are receiving support following the distribution of essential medicines and nutrition commodities to two health facilities.

The MIEPA Project, implemented by Caritas Marsabit in partnership with Malteser International, together with the county health team, distributed and handed over the supplies to Korr Health Centre and Burri-Aramia Health Facility.

The support includes essential and emergency therapeutic medicines as well as targeted supplementary feeding commodities, including CSB+, aimed at addressing critical commodity gaps and sustaining health and nutrition services.

The handover was accompanied by a joint monitoring exercise involving the project and government health teams. The exercise focused on reviewing service delivery, assessing the availability and use of commodities, identifying implementation gaps and strengthening coordination.

The support also complements ongoing integrated outreach services through which health and nutrition services are brought closer to communities in hard-to-reach areas.

The project has further supported outreach services by providing anthropometric equipment, tents, chairs and tables to strengthen the capacity of outreach teams serving remote communities.

County and Sub-County health teams welcomed the continued support, particularly amid shortages of nutrition commodities in many health facilities.

The timely provision of medicines and nutrition supplies is helping address the gaps and support continued access to essential services for vulnerable communities.
