A National Police Reservist (NPR) officer has been shot dead in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County, in an incident suspected to be linked to a romantic dispute.
The 38-year-old officer, who was stationed in Larachi village, was reportedly shot in the head near the Desert Museum on Monday night, according to Loiyangalani OCPD Nicholas Mutua.
Mutua says preliminary investigations at the scene led to the arrest of a woman suspected to have been romantically involved with the deceased. The woman is expected to assist police with investigations into the killing.
Police are pursuing other suspects believed to have been involved in the murder, which investigators suspect may have been premeditated.
The body is expected to be transferred to Marsabit Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
