Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali raises concern over possible internal displacement in Moyale
By Caroline Waforo
Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali has raised concerns over the possibility of internal displacement in Moyale due to security fears linked to ongoing intercommunal clashes in neighbouring Ethiopia.
Speaking in Moyale on Wednesday, Governor Ali said the situation could force some residents to flee their homes amid growing concerns over security along the Kenya-Ethiopia border.
He also called on the international community to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Ethiopian nationals fleeing the violence and seeking refuge in Kenya.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Red Cross Society has pledged to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ethiopian refugees in Moyale.
The organisation has appealed to other humanitarian agencies and stakeholders to increase their contributions to help meet the needs of those affected by the conflict.
