Representatives of the Turkana and Gabra communities have agreed to strengthen peace efforts and promote peaceful herding following an inter-community dialogue meeting held in Gas village.
The meeting brought together community representatives and security teams from North Horr and Loiyangalani sub-counties to discuss peaceful coexistence and enhance cooperation between the neighboring communities.
Participants agreed that peace committees from Gas, Loiyangalani, and North Horr, working alongside security teams from the two sub-counties, will engage herders and local communities to promote the implementation of the resolutions reached during the meeting.
Among the key resolutions adopted were a total ceasefire and the strengthening of existing grazing committees to help sustain peaceful relations between the two communities.
The dialogue was supported by Caritas Marsabit, which reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community-led peace-building initiatives aimed at strengthening trust and promoting lasting peace among communities in the region.
