Dasanaach community members visit Samburu County on conservation learning tour

Members of the Dasanaach community from Illeret have taken part in a community exposure tour to Samburu County aimed at strengthening conservation efforts through community partnerships.

The tour was facilitated by the Sibiloi National Park team led by Warden-in-Charge Shariff Ahmed Mohamud.

During the visit, participants toured Milgis Trust, where they gained insights into community-led conservation initiatives, sustainable livelihood opportunities and innovative partnership models designed to enhance conservation outcomes.

The exposure tour is being conducted through a partnership with Archipelagus, highlighting the role of collaboration in promoting inclusive, community-centred conservation and sustainable development.

Organizers said the initiative seeks to foster knowledge sharing, strengthen partnerships and support a future in which communities, wildlife and natural ecosystems can thrive together.
