Pastoral communities urged to understand importance of land registration

By Sabalua Moses

Pastoralist communities in Marsabit County have been urged to take steps to better understand the importance of registering community land.

Speaking to Radio Jangwani, Rebuilding Pastoralists Livelihoods Organisation REPAL Programme Officer in Marsabit County, James Orre, said community land registration offers significant benefits to pastoralist communities if they register their land.

Orre also called on communities to resolve any complaints and disagreements through peaceful means whenever disputes arise.

However, he said the government should ensure that pastoralist communities are granted the right to register their land without discrimination.

He further noted that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to strengthen the land registration process in Marsabit County.
