Schools closed following the COVID-19 cases in Kenya

Following the presidential directive issued on Sunday, schools in Marsabit County both primary and secondary schools have been closed.

A spot check by Radio Jangwani confirmed the shutting down of schools in Bishop Cavallera girls, with the school administration releasing students early on Wednesday morning.

The school administration says that the directive caught them off-guard since students were scheduled to sit for their end of term one exam coming week.

The ministry of education on the hand has released a circular giving directions on the indefinite closure of schools in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus after the number of the infected rose to seven across in the country.

Marsabit County in a press statement released earlier this week has also directed all early childhood development education ECDE centers to be closed indefinitely over pandemic COVID-19 scare.

Marsabit County commissioner Evans Achoki maintains that schools and even madrasas must be closed until further notice.
